Word Panels

Each plaque is individually coated with a lacquer-based paint to act as a resist. The words are scratched through the paint, and the little plaque is suspended in a vat of ferric nitrate. This etches the exposed areas. They stay in the bath for a couple hours, come out, get neutralized and the paint sanded off. All edges and corners are then rounded, for comfort

Malison
$ 14.00
Noun: A curse, a malediction

I listen to NPR. My NPR station plays the BBC. I heard a story the other day that just broke my heart. There's a list of 24 words that are going to be cut from the Collin's English Dictionary due to lack of use. If it were several hundred, that would be one thing-I understand that new words are born everyday, and that old words must make room for new words, and that's just part of the tragedy of language. But 24? As though these 24 words take up so much room that it will make a difference? So here I am offering these 24 words a new home- on you. And if, once you own the word, you use it, it won't die. So much the better if you have access to publishing, but even if you don't- Use Your Word. ((All definitions are from my fifth edition copy of the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) shorter version)) Learn More

I Stole Fire
$ 15.00
Coyote, Prometheus, Raven... Most Tricksters, despite their sometimes less than helpful ways, brought us fire, arguably raising us up and making us different from the other animals.

This is one of our very most popular words, so I've made four of them this time. All look very much like this, but all are handwritten and will vary slightly. Learn More

The Dot

Regular Price: $ 17.00

Special Price: $ 14.00

There's a story behind this one, that's really dorky and set in my high school. Suffice to say, that the idea is that one person, very small, can call a great deal of attention to itself- this person is the dot at the end of the question mark. Sewn onto my brand new bright green ribbon, this piece makes a great statement that not everyone will get. Learn More
