I start with 18 gauge- the hammer will thin certain areas and thicken others. The thickness allows all edges to be rounded, making the cuff much more comfortable to wear. The sheet is folded, twisted, forged, pried open, and sometimes hammered into shapes over a piece of soft wood. The sheet is then formed into a bracelet and gently hammered with a mallet in order to achieve the right amount of springyness in the metal so as to be able to easily get the bracelet on over the wrist. Then all edges are sanded, and any points created in the folding are taken down.
