Forged Metal

The process of fold forming is a rather time intensive one- It involves repeatedly heating the metal up till it is glowing, quenching it in cold water, and then folding, hammering, or forming it. The metal has to be heated up regularly or else cracks can form. At the end, all the folds are hammered back out, still heating repeatedly. This leaves for a once again flat sheet, but now one with raised lines and areas. The process is controlled; however, the metal has a lot to do with the finished product. It is important that the smith knows her metal well, and becomes almost a collaboration between material and artist.

The Wave- size 9
$ 35.00
This ring is made from the steel supports out of a file folder. It is stainless, but of unknown grade, and it can leave a mark on your finger if you take it in chlorine or salt water. That mark comes off with water.

Crater Lake- size 9
$ 260.00
Green Quartz, Sterling Silver, Found nut.

I love Crater Lake. I know I'm not supposed to choose favorites, but when pressed- this ring is what I admit to. There's just something about the toughness of it, paired with the way the quartz really does grab and reflect light just the way a springfed pond in the high mountains does. It's glorious.

Crater Lake is famous! His picture is in the recently released Lark book, "Ring a Day". You'll have a ring that's been published! He is one of a kind, and I can guarantee there will never be another of him.
