About Vagabond Jewelry
Vagabond Jewelry is all about being one of a kind, affordable, and easy to wear. We use metal here to evoke the natural landscape from which the ore emerged. Some pieces are very bold, shouting of earthquakes, while others whisper of quiet fields of rustling grass, or paths through autumn woods. The range of jewelry calls up all the world, asking you to explore it, and reminding you that if you can get there, it's tough enough to go with you. Like any good traveling companion, these pieces are a bit eccentric- each is entirely different from every other piece I have ever created. Each has their own personality, as organic and hard to define as each of your friends.
This is a caption for the image that I need to upload above. Whoo!
We do our best to get along well with the world we live in- in all the small ways we can. Your package will be delivered to the post office by bike. The package itself will feature no plastics(except for the bubble mailers- which we are working hard to replace), recycled papers where possible, and unbleached boxes and envelopes. All of the color on your metal is achieved with heat and oxygen- we eschew the toxic chemicals necessary to get many of the more common colorations on copper. We seal those colors with wax- no fumes, no chemicals, nothing you don't want on your skin.
I, Kest Schwartzman, graduated from Massachusetts College of Art with a degree in metalsmithing. Through my time there, and ever since, I have worked extensively with copper, spending enough time with it that I have learned it's intricacies. It may, possibly, be my best friend. I like to share that joy with you.
To all of you, from your friendly, neighborhood metalsmith - Thank you and enjoy the jewelry!
